Texas Philanthropist Dr. Letitia Scott Jackson Announces New Stage Play "Pulpit Pimping" Set for February 7

During an exclusive interview with Making Headline News, Dr. Letitia Scott Jackson, founder and director of Keeping Families Connected, announced she is spearheading a new stage production titled Pulpit Pimping, a comedic and spiritually uplifting play scheduled to take place on February 7.

Presented by Keeping Families Connected, the play will begin at 6 p.m. CDT at the Irving Arts Center Dupree Theatre, located at 3333 North MacArthur Boulevard in Irving. The organization was founded by Dr. Jackson in 2015 and focuses on strengthening families and supporting community-based initiatives.

According to Dr. Jackson, Pulpit Pimping is a faith-centered comedic stage play that exposes hypocrisy within ministry while affirming God’s forgiveness and impartiality. The production is designed to entertain audiences while also provoking thoughtful reflection and encouraging spiritual discernment. Partial proceeds from the production will benefit scholarships for students impacted by parental incarceration or economic disadvantage.

“God is no respecter of persons,” Dr. Jackson said while explaining the theme of the play. “This is about forgiveness and truth over hypocrisy. We are using humor and drama to teach accountability, spiritual study, and restoration.” Three years after making her playwright debut, Dr. Jackson said she hopes the new production will generate strong interest throughout the faith community.

“Public interest is high,” she said. “The production aims for strong community turnout, increased awareness of the charity’s scholarship program, and new donor and volunteer engagement for Keeping Families Connected ongoing work. I need to sell this play out. I’m pulling it off in less than 45 days. It’s going to be one for the books.”

The production is directed by Javon Johnson, a Los Angeles native widely recognized for his work across stage, film, and television. Johnson is known for his appearances in The Oval, American Soul, and Survivor’s Remorse, as well as the film Barbershop.

Johnson is the author of Killing Poetry: Blackness and the Making of Slam and Spoken Word Communities and has appeared on Def Poetry Jam, Lyric Café, Verses & Flow, The Arsenio Hall Show, and The Steve Harvey Show. He also co-wrote the Showtime documentary Crossover. The 11-member cast production will also feature musical performances by The Jacque Gordon Ensemble and the Greater Jubilee Cathedral Choir.

Tickets for Pulpit Pimping are available through the Irving Arts Center box office.
